STI prevention

Protect yourself. Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are a reality.

STIs may not be a hot topic between you and your partner, but by talking about STIs once in awhile, you may be able to avoid experiencing them altogether.

The first step is to use protection. A condom may be your best defense against STIs if you choose to be sexually active and it may also help protect you from becoming pregnant at the same time. NorLevo provides emergency contraception only and does not protect you against STIs.

Be informed. Know the types of infections out there and how they can be passed on. Honesty is important in any relationship – tell your partner if you think you may be infected.

Get tested. If you are sexually active, you and your partner should get tested for STIs at least once a year – even if you haven’t had sex in a while. If you or your partner test positive, make sure you follow up with the proper treatment and ask your doctor if and when it is safe for you to have sex again.
